Research Engineer Intern for Natural Language Processing and Explainable AI
We seek reinforcements for our team solving the scientific part of the international project. The intern will focus on the problem of explaining the Natural Language Processing (NLP) models and other NLP research and engineering challenges.
Job description
We seek reinforcements for our team solving the scientific part of the international project DisAI, a HORIZON-CSA project aimed at improving scientific excellence and creativity in combating disinformation with artificial intelligence and language technologies. The intern will focus on the problem of explaining the Natural Language Processing (NLP) models and other NLP research and engineering challenges.
The intern will participate and get hands-on experience in the whole research process, work with various NLP models and explainability methods and develop and deploy innovative NLP solutions for selected tasks.
The work may include practicing with Large Language Models (LLMs) with focus on open-source models, and applications like ChatGPT. As working with these models requires significant resources, you may improve yourself in engineering and work with cloud or High-performance computing (HPC).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Creation of AI models and methods, statistical analysis, machine learning
- Application of various explainability techniques to various NLP models to explain their predictions to the users and to improve the models themselves
- Data acquisition (including cleaning, preprocessing and annotating)
- Experimental software development (prototypes)
- Participation in research studies

Personality requirements
- You should have some experience with statistics (and math in general)
- You should have some experience with machine learning basics
- You should have some experience with programming (e.g. several university courses)
Skills
- English – proficiency level (C1)
Salary
- The offered is from 6 € / hour (brutto)
