What's
How your 2% helps young scientists grow
At our civic association BrAIn, we believe that cutting-edge research can also be done in Slovakia. Last year was a proof that meaningful support can really help. Thanks to companies and individuals who donated 2% of their taxes to us, we were able to support interns and young scientists in their career growth, enabling them to travel in pursuit of knowledge and bring world-class science back home.
Our young researchers discover AI around the world
Our PhD student Ivana Beňová’s trip to the US was one of the highlights of last year. Among other things, she took part in an internship with her mentor Prof. Košecká at George Mason University. Thanks to oz BrAIn, she had a unique opportunity to look into top-level research and see where artificial intelligence is heading in the world.

Why is this important?
Every new experience abroad is an investment in the development of Slovak science. We bring the knowledge we acquire back home so that research can continue to develop and contribute to a more educated and modern society.
We continue to spread our know-how
Knowing something in practice means even more when you share it. Our PhD student Natália Slosiarová presented her findings at professional seminars in Olomouc. At KInIT, she is researching the impact of artificial intelligence on fundamental human rights and freedoms and analyzing how AI is changing the world of legislation and the fight against disinformation.
Sharing experiences is equally important for our researcher Adrián Gavorník. At the AI Meet Up at the Jozef Murgaš Secondary Industrial School in Banská Bystrica, he presented to students what the ethical evaluation of AI systems looks like in practice and how researchers address challenging ethical dilemmas in their research.
Why is this important?
Talking only about research is not enough. It is equally important to demonstrate how theory can deliver tangible results and inspire future generations who may one day follow in similar paths.
We are building a new community of young talents
The visit of high school students from SOŠ Handlová was one of the most memorable moments of last year for us. The students got to know our team, gained insight into the world of artificial intelligence, and discovered new topics that inspired their own ideas and future careers in science.
They left us feeling enthusiastic. Would you like to know what it was like? Read this blog.
Why is this important?
This is precisely how a community with a shared purpose is formed. By networking, science becomes real and tangible.
European Researchers’ Night – A night that celebrates science!
The European Researchers’ Night is one of the events that the entire KInIT always looks forward to. This year, however, was even more special because our PhD student Ivana Beňová opened the event with a lecture on young women in the field of AI. It was a powerful moment that showed how enthusiasm for science can spark curiosity and discussion among people.

Why is this important?
We show the public that science is driven by people who love their work and are not afraid to try new things that push innovation in the right direction.
