Seminar on Recommender Systems
During this seminar, we will introduce and discuss results of research in recommender systems carried out at KInIT. In the first part, Santiago de Leon-Martinez will talk about the interface-aware recommender systems. More specifically, he will introduce the results of his research in carousel interfaces which, despite their wide-spread use in e-commerce and streaming services alike, have so far received comparatively little attention from the research community. He will discuss their impact on user behavior based on an empirical eye tracking study, present click models designed for these interfaces as well as insights for improving them.
In the second part, Matúš Tuna will talk about the challenges and novel results in designing trustworthy multi-objective and multi-stakeholder (MOS) recommenders. A recommender system has to reflect, combine and solve often contrasting requirements and expectations from dozens of stakeholders, each of whom can simultaneously have various objectives. He will discuss how to operationalize trustworthiness under such conditions and introduce novel trustworthy methods for MOS recommender systems (with a focus on e-commerce domain).
In the last part, we will hold a discussion on the future outlooks of recommender systems.
The seminar is open to researchers, practitioners and industry representatives interested in recommender systems. It is supported by Eyes4ICU, a project funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, GA No. 101072410 and by HERMES, a project funded by the European Union NextGenerationEU through Recovery and Resilience Plan for Slovakia under the project No. 09I03-03-V04-00336.
