Disinformation and democracy
The second year of the conference Disinformation and Democracy will take place on Friday, September 30th 2022. You can look forward to the contributions of almost 20 brilliant speakers, experts from Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The conference is organized by the Adapt Institute together with partners from Gerulata Technologies and the Kempelen Institute of Intelligent Technologies. The conference will take place on September 30th in Bratislava’s Binarium and it will be streamed online for the general public.
The conference builds on the successful first edition, which demonstrated in three panel discussions and several presentations the need for more than inter-ministerial cooperation to find an effective strategy for combating disinformation.
The second year of the conference is dedicated to the issue of disinformation and the challenge they pose to a healthy society and a functioning democracy.
The conference program brings current topics such as the protection of electoral processes and the transparency of online campaigns, and the role of media in the fight against misinformation or strategic communication under the pressure of the war in Ukraine.
Join the conference and you’ll have the opportunity to watch 5 panel discussions on topics such as:
- socio-psychological conditions and environment reinforcing the impact of misinformation;
- specifics of crisis and strategic communication under the influence of the war in Ukraine;
- the possibilities and limitations of applied information technology research;
- integrity of election processes and transparency of online campaigns;
- protection of journalists and transparency of media ownership in the context of the current legislative framework.
Mária Bieliková will be part of the panel discussion on Technical Challenges of Strategic Communication, which starts at 13:20.
The aim of the conference is to connect the political, professional, and technological levels of the fight against misinformation through a series of panels, briefings, and presentations.
You can watch the conference (in Slovak) online for free and without registration on the Facebook or YouTube profile of Adapt Institute. All necessary information, including the programme, is available here.
