Cooperation with SAS yields results: The best doctoral thesis at SAS with the contribution from KInIT

Jana Papcunová is a PhD student at the Centre of Social and Psychological Sciences of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Together with her colleagues, we collaborated on the topic of hate speech. This resulted in a scientific article in a renowned international scientific journal on the operationalisation of hate speech, where we jointly investigated the indicators of hate speech and their structure. Our team was involved in automating the detection of these expressions with the use of artificial intelligence.

Jana has recently participated in the competition for the best PhD thesis from all three departments of the SAS. She won 1st place in the main category of Social Sciences (note: one of the three main science departments in the SAS, the others being Life, Chemical, Medical, and Environmental Sciences and Physical, Space, Earth, and Engineering Sciences). Many heartfelt congratulations to Jana!

We are keeping our fingers crossed for Jana’s dissertation defense at the end of the summer, we are convinced that she will be a brilliant doctor.

One of our goals at KInIT is to establish functional multidisciplinary collaborations with partners from academia and industry. This collaboration was just that. We hope that we will continue to be successful in doing so.
