The Kempelen Institute is a member of the international consortium of doctoral studies AI in Europe

We are in good company

We are very pleased that Kempelen’s Institute of Intelligent Technology, together with Comenius University, has become a member of the International AI Doctoral Academy AIDA.

The international consortium AIDA was set up to make knowledge accessible, to pool PhD talents from all over Europe and also to support the world-class AI education and research program. We are pleased to be a member of a group of AI leaders from the outset where we can help ensure European strategic autonomy in such critical technology as AI, underpinning most of our future professional and private activities, with huge potential socio-economic impact and to reinforce and build on Europe’s assets in AI, including its world-class researcher community, in order to stay at the forefront of AI developments.

AI undoubtedly improves our lives in several areas and helps us in our daily activities. But more and more often, various ethical and social issues arise in connection with AI. Whether in terms of the impact on users of AI systems, but also when considering the ethically and socially beneficial design of these systems.

And this is exactly a topic where we would like to help. We are preparing a series of four lectures for AIDA in the course Ethics by design for intelligent technologies. In the course we will provide you with an overview of selected methods of ethical design. We will explain how to translate general ethical principles into specific activities and, based on our experience from various projects, we will show you how to identify and minimize ethical risks.
