New PhD programme at KInIT focused on eye tracking
Gaze is an important communication channel, it works without words and can be captured remotely. Therefore it holds great potential for universal inclusive technologies. We are thrilled to be part of the European Eyes4ICU project that focuses on gaze interaction.
Eyes4ICU (Eyes for Interaction, Communication, and Understanding) is a Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network within the Horizon Europe programme. The goal of the project is exploration of novel forms of gaze interaction.
In this project, we work with experts in using eye tracking to ensure best practices and optimal facilities for research and training in Europe. Our aim is to advance communication by eye tracking as a field. The project will result in European standards for gaze-based communication in a variety of domains. You can find out more information about the project here.
As a part of this project, KInIT offers a joint PhD training programme. A network of seven universities and research institutions will train 12 doctoral students over the next 3 years. This interdisciplinary PhD programme combines AI and cognitive psychology.
The consortium of this project is very diverse, composed of academic and commercial partner organizations. Connecting the academia with the industry and experts from various fields of competence will ensure applicability and practical relevance of the research training programme. It will provide enhanced career perspectives for the students through interdisciplinary curriculum, international cooperation and mobility.
Applications for this one-of-a-kind PhD training programme were accepted until August 15th, 2022.
