DanubeEnergy is a one-year project funded by the Interreg Danube Region Programme. It brings together three partners from Slovakia and Ukraine to cooperate on the development of a complex strategic transnational project focused on creating an integrated heating system. The system will combine renewable energy sources with existing heat supply infrastructure and optimise their efficient operation.

Within DanubeEnergy, a consortium of ZSE Energia, the National University of Odessa and KInIT partners works on preparing a transnational project that will innovate the combined heat supply systems. The idea is to encompass both central heating systems and renewable energy sources (RES) and to operate the combined system by respecting the specific heating requirements of buildings. These requirements are primarily influenced by the microclimate of the premises, depending on how they are used (differing for homes, offices, cafes, etc.), current weather and other conditions. The ambition of such a project is to tackle the challenge of inefficiency and fossil fuel dependence in existing communal heating systems across the Danube Region. It also has an opportunity to focus on the ways of supporting the Ukrainian energy system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Preparation of this transnational project requires expanding the original idea, involving the stakeholders, building up a broader consortium covering all the required competencies, identifying risks, selecting a programme and developing a final project.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

KInIT, as a consortium leader, is responsible for project coordination and management as well as for proposing methodologies for heating control incorporating machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n
