NLP Group
NLP @ KInIT

The Natural language processing group (NLP) dedicates itself to the research of natural language processing and information extraction from textual data.

We aim at novel methods improving various NLP tasks (e.g, sentiment analysis, text classification or text summarization), while particularly focusing on low-resource languages.

We employ and/or develop new models and architectures for deep learning and/or transfer learning. In our research, we tackle a wide range of textual data types (document corpora, social networks, etc.).

Research team

Marián Šimko
(Group leader)

Associate professor focusing on intelligent information systems focused on natural language processing, artificial intelligence and low-resource text processing. He was a vice-dean for master study and alumni cooperation. He has co-led the project awarded by the Ministry of Education of SR for exceptional impact on education.

Miroslav Blšták

Post-doc researcher focusing on natural language processing, machine learning, information extraction from text and computer-assisted language learning.

Matúš Pikuliak

Researcher working with natural language processing and machine learning. His research is focusing on transfer learning and various issues related to multilinguality and transferring knowledge between languages. He is active in the computational linguistics community.

Martin Tamajka

Researcher in Applied informatics. He focuses on research of new methods of computer vision and artificial intelligence, primarily for their application in medical image analysis. Besides research, Martin is particularly interested in education and knowledge sharing. He has made multiple invited lectures and workshops on deep learning and other cutting-edge technologies in medicine for both academy and industry.

Martin Konôpka

Researcher with interests in monitoring of software developer’s activity, gathering and processing interaction data, stream reasoning, and identifying hidden relations between artifacts of software projects or developers. His research aims towards an alternative understanding of software through developer behavior, rather than source code analysis.
